Signs of bladder infection
A bladder infection starts with a pinching, burning sensation on urination. Urethral inflammation may cause bladder or kidney pain and blood in the urine as the infection becomes more advanced.
The actual inflammation site
When people refer to bladder problems, it's usually the urethra that is inflamed. If left untreated, bladder inflammation or cystitis may actually develop, possibly then affecting the upper urinary tract up to the kidneys and renal pelvis.
Causes and prevention
If the immune system is weak: when the lower body and feet cool down, it is easier to get a bladder infection. There are so-called reflex reactions, e.g. the mucous membranes cool down if you have cold feet. Then, the mucous membranes are not supplied with blood as well anymore and are more prone to infections.
Self-infection: the most common cause for a bladder inflammation are intestinal bacteria (E.coli), which get to the urethra from the anus and from there can ascend further. Therefore, one of the simplest and most effective measures for women is to work backwards (from the urethra to the anus) when washing themselves as part of their daily hygiene. This helps to avoid a smear Infection with their own intestinal bacteria. Because the most common cause for a bladder infection is an infection with E.coli bacteria, which are present naturally in the intestines.
Sex: Yes, they even call it honeymoon cystitis in the medical profession – you're in love and can't get enough of it, and along comes an annoying and painful inflammation. The female urethra is short, giving bacteria an easy way in from mechanical stress; urinating after sex flushes out bacteria, a trick that often prevents inflammation.
Menopause: The mucous membranes start to dry out with decreasing oestrogen production, encouraging bladder infection. Urination after sex helps here too, as does the use of lubricants to prevent irritation in the first place.
Treatment in self-medication:
Solidagoren® Liquid: 20–30 drops in a glass of water three times a day. Also remember to drink plenty of fluids to flush out the urinary system. We recommend water or unsweetened tea.
If that doesn't help...
You should see a doctor as soon as possible if the symptoms persist after five days; you will usually be prescribed antibiotics. Solidagoren® Liquid will help prevent another infection and inflammation after you have finished your antibiotics. Flushing is usually applied for up to four weeks, and a large bottle Solidagoren® Liquid with 100 ml extract of goldenrod, silverweed and field horsetail is enough.
